JAGORI undertakes action-research that serve as the basis for focused advocacy and women-led interventions in the community. These studies raise crucial questions regarding the centrality of women-centered perspectives that need to be brought to the attention of policy makers and implementers. These studies are aimed at supporting the struggle of the community to claim their rights and entitlements as citizens of Delhi. Women’s organisations conduct Safety Audits in Delhi on 16 December

On the night of 16th December 54 representatives from various civil society organisations including Jagori, Safetipin, CFAR, Lawyers Collective, NFIW, AIPWA, Action India, Reclaim the Night, CHSJ, SNS,Samarthyam, Nirantar, Breakthrough, Women’s Feature Service, Sakha Cabs, Azad Foundation,Miranda House, Kamla Nehru and several eminent women joined together with to conduct safety audits in New Delhi.

Approximately 60 kilometres of roads were covered in Delhi. 146 safety audits were conducted using Safetipin, along with observation and conversations with people on the streets, in public transport and waiting for public transport. The data was recorded on the gaps that exist in public infrastructure, social usage of public space, public transport and policing.

SEXUAL HARASSMENT & YOUTH IN DELHI SLUMS, A MEDIA BASED PARTICIPATORY RESEARCH ON YOUTH EXPERIENCES & PERCEPTIONS

This study was undertaken by Jagori in collaboration with Kid Power Media (KPM) an organisation working on safer communities using communication tools. The report was produced between May-July 2014. A seven week model on 'girls safety' in public spaces across three different communities in Delhi was developed. KPM anchored the process and partnered with Sweecha, Chintan and Vidya for on ground implementation and Jagori undertook sessions on concept understanding and overall content.

Women’s Safety Audit with domestic workers: Kolkata

Jagori partnered Parichiti, working with domestic workers in Kolkata, to conduct a Women’s Safety Audit (WSA) with domestic workers travelling via local trains, December 2012.

Women’s Access to Essential Services

Between 2009-11, an  Action Research Project on Women’s Rights and Access to Water and Sanitation in Asian Cities was implemented in two settlements of evicted slum dwellers: Bawana Jhuggi Jhopri (JJ) re-location colony and the Bhalswa Jhuggi Jhopri (JJ) re-location colony. Read more
