As we all know, there has been a spike in violence against women and girls that is one major gendered impact of Covid 19 pandemic and the lockdown.

Women were locked up with the abusers almost 24×7 and faced  several challenges to seek any help and redress.

Jagori and Aga Khan Foundation conducted  orientation trainings of women and men community leaders on VAW and attempted to equip them with information on how to provide assistance and support to a woman survivor that they can then disseminate in villages and bastis in Bihar, Gujarat, MP and UP. Apart from providing info on various service providers, we thought of making animation videos that can be used as training tools.

Our Lanes…Our Lives Part 1

This short film in two parts, highlights key issues of women’s access to essential services like water, sanitation, electricity, drainage and lack of safety for women and girls living in a mix of public-private spaces in resettlement locations.

The film is based on an action research study undertaken by women and young people in partnership with Jagori in Bawana and Action India in Bhalswa, Delhi, using the women’s safety audit walks and other tools to highlight gender gaps in design, infrastructure and services. It argues for the need to prioritize women’s voices, needs and lived realities in urban governance processes. Watch the first part here...
