The special woman helplines (100, 1091 and 1096, 181) are under operation but their effectiveness at the time of emergency is still under question. There are several studies done by women rights groups, which reveal the most unsafe place for a woman is her home.

A proactive app to prevent violence against women

Circle of 6 is a project of Tech 4 Good, Inc. which is a start-up non-profit dedicated to prevent violence through the use of mobile technology. Hotlines are now pre-programmed for the recently formed 24/7 women’s hotline of New Delhi and the Jagori advocacy helpline. This app also directs you to the Lawyer’s Collective if calling the police feels unsafe, which for many women it does.
