Cities across the country have started women-only cab services that are both for and driven by women. Challenges include meeting demands with small fleets and being seen as empowement platforms instead of business models.

The campaign for Delhi saw a plethora of women’s issues pledged to be dealt with in political parties’ manifestos, with everyone promising a safer Delhi, however the need for more than ‘symbolic gestures’ is seen.

Findings of the fourth National Family Health Survey (NFHS) recently released by the Union Health ministry indicate that the health of women and children remains a major concern, despite a drop in women's fertility rates. 

After the horrific incident of 16th December gang rape case, fear of assault has gripped Delhi with a rising unsafe situations. The special woman helplines (100, 1091 and 1096, 181) are under operation but their effectiveness at the time of emergency is still under question. There are several studies done by women rights groups, which reveal the most unsafe place for a woman is her home.

Circle of 6 is a project of Tech 4 Good, Inc. which is a start-up non-profit dedicated to prevent violence through the use of mobile technology. Hotlines are now pre-programmed for the recently formed 24/7 women’s hotline of New Delhi and the Jagori advocacy helpline. This app also directs you to the Lawyer’s Collective if calling the police feels unsafe, which for many women it does.
