Supreme Court intervenes to form a committee of lawyers, activists and NGO nominees to study reports and provide a plan to rehabilitate widows in ashrams across the country so that they can live with dignity.

The Supreme Court has told the Centre that issues like national policy on empowerment of women, nourishment, sanitation and hygiene at shelter homes have not been addressed in its roadmap to improve the condition of widows.
