Eight member organizations of LCN (a national network on shelter homes) conducted research to foreground voices of ‘women’ residents (former and current) of shelter homes, women at risk of being rendered homeless as well as staff and management of shelter homes. Findings were captured with recommendations in five state-level reports in 2019:
- Assam: Voices from the Fringes: Experiences of female survivors of violence in shelter homes in Assam
- Delhi: Beyond the Roof: An action-research study on women survivors of violence and shelter homes in Delhi
- Karnataka (South): A Refuge of Hope: Women’s Experience of Shelter Homes in South Karnataka
- Karnataka (North): Towards Re-visioning of Shelter Homes in North Karnataka
- Meghalaya: Re-visioning Shelter Homes in Meghalaya
- Tamil Nadu: In Search of a Dignity Restoring Safe Space (Tamil Nadu)
A synthesis of key findings from all the five states entitled Survivor Speak has been finalised.
The findings were shared at a National meeting co-organised in Delhi on 19th March 2019, with over one hundred participants representing 49 organisations from 11 states.
Time For Overhauls – is the report of a consultation organised by Jagori, under the aegis of LCN (Lam-lynti Chittara Neralu) in September 2016. It was part of a series, aimed to collate evidence on issues such as funds, health, rehabilitation, support services and employment, and to mobilize civil society and state departments around these.
