According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), on an average, 8,800 dowry deaths and domestic violence cases are booked every year. Section 498A of the IPC has given protection and relief to many harassed women and should continue in its original form. 

With millions rose in 2013 across South Asia and the world to say ‘Enough! No more violence’ as a part of  One Billion Rising  campaign, this year the campaign has moved further to address impunity and the lack of accountability that significantly contributes to perpetuating violence against women. This year the focus is on the justice for all survivors of gender violence.

On 29th January 2014, Parvathy Baul offered an enthralling performance in solidarity with the One Billion Rising (OBR) campaign. Initiated by American activist Even Ensler and powered in South Asia by Kamla Bhasin, OBR 2014 calls for an end to violence against women and girls.
